President – Jacob Chacko
Jacob has been involved in the Caravan Industry since 1996 and is the owner of Acclaim Holiday Parks, which operates 8 Holiday Parks in Western Australia.
Jacob has a degree in Law and practiced in Singapore as an Advocate & Solicitor for 25 years and is still on the rolls of the Supreme Court of Singapore & he provides a legal perspective to Board discussions. He has also served as an Officer in the Singapore Armed Forces and in its Reserves.
Jacob has been a Board Member since 2002 and has been a past President. He is currently Chair of the Parks Standing Committee and a member of the Constitution and Governance Committee. He also serves on the National Board of the Caravan Industry Association of Australia.
Vice President Trades – Stephen May
Vice President Trades
Elected at the 2013 Annual General Meeting, Stephen has been a Board Member for the past year and has worked in the Retail industry for the past 30 years, having held various executive positions in both management and supervision.
Stephen is now the Owner/Director of Johnno’s Camper Trailers Perth North/North West which allows him to combine his passion for photography, camping and the outdoor life. It also enables Stephen to spend more time engaging these passions, passing on his knowledge and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was elected to the Board at the 2012 AGM and is Chair of Trades, Show, Marketing and Tourism & Promotion Committee’s and also a member of the Finance Committee.
Vice President Parks – Ainsley Brady
Vice President Parks
Ainslee Brady is passionate about the future of the Caravan and Camping Industry.
She has managed her family’s Park in Bunbury for the past 10 years, having grown up in the industry.
Ainslee believes that the industry is facing an exciting future, and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.
Andrew was elected to the Board at the 2013 Annual General Meeting and has previous experience with the Association having been on the Board previously.
Currently Managing Director of Off Road Equipment, Andrew is a passionate supporter of the industry and frequently undertakes trips to remote parts of the state as a way of introducing new travellers to the lifestyle. Andrew is a member of the Finance, Show, Tourism & Promotion, Marketing and Trades Committee’s.
Brett is the Sales Executive RVOE/RVAM Western Australia with Dometic Australia Pty Ltd and been in this role for the past five years. Brett worked in the sector for a number of years prior to his current role. Brett has been on the CIAWA Board for the past five years and also represents the CIAWA on the Board of the National Association – Caravan Industry Association of Australia (CIAA). Brett is also a member of the Parks, Trades, Show and Tourism & Promotion Committee’s.
John was appointed to the Board in December 2014.
In 1999, John Wood founded National Lifestyle Villages with a passion for providing a new and affordable lifestyle option for people too young or fit for a retirement village but no longer wanting a high maintenance house in the suburbs. John combined his experience in the real estate, housing, tourism and marketing industries to see his idea grow into a business that won Telstra WA Business of the Year award in 2007. At the age of 20, John purchased the business he was employed by and subsequently won the Rothwell’s Young Entrepreneur Award and the West Australian Young Achievers Award, representing WA at Kirribilli House with former Prime Minister Bob Hawke. John’s interest in manufactured homes and parks was cultivated after being attracted to the industry by his father (John Wood Senior) to establish and manage the growth of Fleetwood Corporation’s manufactured homes division. John grew the business to be a market leader throughout the 90’s and was appointed an executive member of the industry association for 15 years in varying capacities including President.
Representing the industry further, John has been appointed to a number of government committees and has been a champion for new legislation to provide appropriate governance on behalf of people seeking to enjoy the benefits of lease-hold lifestyle concepts without giving up security of tenure or certainty.
Giles Everest is currently the Executive General Manager of Fleetwood Pty Ltd. A major supplier of park homes and cabins to Lifestyle Villages and Caravan Parks in Western Australia.
Giles joined Fleetwood in 2007 as the Project Services Manager. He has gained experience in running major construction, building and maintenance projects and leading teams of up to 200 people in a variety of industries including mining, logistics and manufacturing.
Giles has a MBA from the University of Western Australia and has undertaking specialised training in strategic planning, leadership, project management and negotiation.
Having worked in both the private and public sectors, Gillian has twenty five years management experience in a career focussed towards the provision of affordable accommodation options within the resource sector, aged care and the holiday park industry.
Gillian joined Aspen Parks in June 2015, subsequently remaining with Discovery as Regional Manager WA. With a keen interest in business leadership, Gillian has completed a Master of Business Leadership at Curtin University.
Steve is a Director of George Day Caravans with 38 years of industry experience. He wants to bring this experience to the Board to assist with the decisions affecting our industry.
James has worked for Australia’s biggest and most awarded dealer-Caravanland, for 20 years as Sales Manager. He has extensive knowledge of the caravan retailing industry and over 40 years’ experience in the sector.
Dean Massie has been involved in the tourism industry in Western Australia for nearly 30 years and is currently the General Manager of Operations for Aspen Parks and Resorts (23 Properties Australia wide). His involvement in WA tourism has provided him with extensive experience, knowledge and skills across all sectors within the industry.
Mr Massie’s primary role prior to joining Aspen Parks was as General Manager of Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort, a position he held since 1992, during which time he established the resort as a major tourist attraction and destination within the Australian tourism market.
Dean is currently Vice President of Backpacker WA and has previously held roles as President of the Gascoyne Tourism Association and Vice President of Australia’s Coral Coast. Dean is also a member of the Finance and Parks Committee’s.
With 20 years in the industry, Reg is an active owner/operator of a 4 Star mixed caravan park in the Peel Region.
He has a long association with the national marketing chain of Top Parks and is well connected throughout Australia via his family’s commitment in the tourism industry at Regional, State and National levels.
Born Western Australia 1942 Mick’s Family manufactured caravans in 1947 as Bi-Tone Caravans. Mick entered the family business in 1955 at the Saleyard in East Victoria Park and went on to own B.T. Olympic Pty Ltd.
Mick served on CIA alongside John Wood Senior in the 70’s and 80’s.
